Drug Use Isn’t Criminal
I do seem to have conflicting views on this subject in this video; I say we need to tackle the drugs trade but also seem to condone the legalisation of drugs. Substance abuse cause huge problems across society and can affect the smallest most hum-drum family to the biggest most powerful nation. The problem however is not the recreational users who take a pill or two at the weekend. It is the trade that should be targeted and not the individual users but to patronise these casual users by saying their use of recreational drugs is an illness is not going to combat anything. Legalisation of drugs is one of the only realistic ways of combating addiction and the shady world around drug trafficking, dealing and usage. It is the society around the drugs that are the problem, not the drugs themselves. To also claim that these drugs are more dangerous than alcohol or tobacco are quite frankly false. All the people who want to take drugs have found out ways of doing it by now, I dont think any flood gates will be opened, they will just stop being labelled the criminals. pretty much agree’d with you on the legalization business of drugs. Also on the recreational use of them. The statement that addiction to these drugs is an illness does hold some truth, when it is an actual addiction rather than casual use. But whose to say which is which. Its tricky. You can really only go case to case with this one.

The one thing i would strongly disagree with is the “casual use of heroin” its prety much impossible to use heroin casually. But the people addicted should not be charged, maybe some form of compulsary rehab where attending treatment would hold back a criminal charge, a bit like the probation system so if they step out of line they do get charged. Coke is also highly addictive but i do know some people who use it “casually” but i think they are tempting fate. Health matter not a criminal one!
The notion that using soft drugs leads someone to using harder and harder drugs is only true now because people are getting their drugs from drug dealers who’ll make more profit from the harder stuff. Imagine buying your drugs from a pharmacist who’d offer you proper advice and safety tips about its use. Leah Betts tragically died from drinking too much water – advice given to ravers – and not from the effects of ecstacy. I don’t use drugs at all but I want those who do to have proper advice.

@pamew Thats a good idea but you will have a long wait as i dont drink the stuff or tea come to that. Oh and i dont drink alcohol so it looks like i am not addicted to anything. Except work. Perhaps thats why i own 3 thriving companies which keeps me busy and employs several people. So having a clear head and not drinking or doing drugs has looked after me in life. But there again just think where i could of been if i was a drug taking pot head. Oh yer i could be in prison or on the streets .

Well you know what i might be a “cunt” but i’m a clear level headed hard working happy “cunt” who has never been addicted to a man made drug i’ve never had a criminal record or ever been out of work in my life.
